When I Meet You (easter-ish post)

I meet you in the morning

When dawn breaks and the sun peeks over the trees

The sun which you spoke into existence and handed the boundaries of time and seasons

The concept of days and years, plus the power of light

I meet you here expectant

As sure as I am that the moon drags the night behind it, I am more convinced of your Spirit being present when I invite you to come.

I meet you in your Word

The words you spoke and continue to speak

Revealing that though written your word is not contained and cannot be limited to pages in a book

Living and breathing, a continuous speech not bound by a front and back cover

I meet you in the Holy of Holies

Veil removed, covered by the blood, unafraid and welcomed to see you face to face

My heart returns to its proper dwelling place, finally finding rest here in your presence

It is when I meet you here that I feel whole, healed, strengthened, and reminded that I am made perfect through the Son

(Little poem thing by me lol)

I continually marvel at the accessibility of God. There is no distance, only the distance I create when I pull away, when I hide as Adam and Eve did in shame. But I am always welcome at his table, always wanted, always able to meet Him face to face because of what Jesus did all those years ago. Because of the cross I can approach the throne, because of the cross forgiveness is just one repentant prayer away. There are no sacrificial laws, no priests I must go through, no veil that hides his face from me. When there was only one way to reconcile us to God, when one man brought sin into the world severing the communion we had with God, Jesus became the one man to bear the sins of the world and bridge the insurmountable gap Adam created. And he did it willingly. He lived knowing that agonizing pain of the cross was in his future. He suffered and laid down his life for us to pick it up. So God could look at us and not see our sins but Jesus’s righteousness and perfection. A righteousness and perfection that does not fade but continually covers us.

Hebrews 9:12 - “he entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption.”

Hebrews 9:26-28 - “But as it is he has appeared once for all at the end of ages to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. And just as it was appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him”

Hebrews is littered with verses describing Jesus as THE High Priest, the guarantor of a better covenant, mediator of the new covenant, and the final sacrifice. No longer are we bound by Levitical laws with burnt offerings, because Jesus is the final offering. Let us not neglect the sacrifice of our savior by refusing to meet with him. By procrastinating getting into His presence and His Word. Get to know the person who died for you, walk in the purpose he has for you, and eagerly wait for his return.
